Route description

Start the hike at the Bad Hopfreben country house, a former spa complex in the 17th and 18th centuries. Follow the signs to F.M. Felderweg. Along the path to Schoppernau, boards with quotations from the work of the poet and social reformer point out important aspects of his life. At the beginning, the trail leads through the Hinterhopfreben forester's lodge, where F.M. Felder's family also owned a hut.

Through a short stretch of woodland, you soon reach the second outpost settlement, Vorderhopfreben at the foot of the Üntschenspitze. Along the way, the views of the Künzelspitze rock massif are fascinating again and again. A narrow path leads from the Vorderhopfreben forester's lodge along the Bregenzerach river. After the tunnel and crossing the main road, it is worth taking a short detour to the newly built Armenseelenkapelle chapel on a small rock. At the beginning of the village, the path leads along the pavement of the main road to the centre of Schoppernau. You will also pass the house where Franz Michael Felder was born and lived.
